Analysis of the July VRS update by innersh1ne: an opportunity for magic and BetBoom

The new season in Counter-Strike kicks off with an updated VRS ranking. With less than four months left until the PGL Singapore Major 2026 invites are announced, it’s time for teams to focus on building up their pool of recent matches and results.
Top 10: A New King
As of July 6, the world’s top 10 teams are as follows:
- 1. Team Spirit,
- 2. Team Falcons,
- 3. Team Vitality,
- 4. Natus Vincere,
- 5. FURIA,
- 6. MOUZ,
- 7. Legacy,
- 8. Aurora,
- 9. G2,
- 10. BetBoom.
In addition to Team Vitality losing its top spot in the global rankings for the first time in three months, there are a few other points worth noting:
- BetBoom made it into the top 10 for the first time. Although they’re in tenth place, the team has temporarily secured invitations to Tier 1 tournaments.
- FURIA climbed six spots—this is significant, as the Brazilians were on the verge of falling out of the invitation zone for the top events.
- The same goes for G2, which moved up four spots in the rankings and retained the ability to choose which tournaments it will participate in.
- GamerLegion and Astralis plummeted into the bottom ten. GL flopped at the IEM Cologne Major 2026 and then traveled to Romania for Super DraculaN, leaving without a single win, while Astralis also managed only one bo1 victory in Cologne. Both teams now face an uphill battle to return to Tier 1 unless they prove themselves at last month’s ranking tournaments.
Top 30: PARIVISION’s Fall and a Chance for magic
In the next two tens of the rankings, most teams are hot on each other’s heels, and the battle for slots at the Singapore Major promises to be extremely fierce and cutthroat.
- 11. FUT,
- 12. 9z,
- 13. The MongolZ,
- 14. B8,
- 15. Astralis,
- 16. GamerLegion,
- 17. Monte (Luminosity),
- 18. MIBR,
- 19. PARIVISION,
- 20. magic,
- 21. paiN,
- 22. TYLOO,
- 23. FaZe,
- 24. M80,
- 25. Inner Circle,
- 26. BIG,
- 27. Alliance,
- 28. Ninjas in Pyjamas,
- 29. Lynn Vision,
- 30. Wildcard.
- BIG, Wildcard, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Alliance retain their spots in the top 30—this is important for Tier 2 teams currently undergoing a rebuild.
- M80 and Wildcard are the top American teams, well ahead of the rest—this puts them in a favorable position, since many events award regional invites.
- magic has remained in the top 20 and will receive invites to major tournaments—an excellent chance to establish itself at LAN events.
- PARIVISION continues its downward slide—the team has already dropped to nineteenth place, and its only chance to turn things around is the XSE Pro League Guangzhou 2026.
- FaZe Clan is somehow managing to stay in the top 30 and remains in the running for the fall Major. If FaZe doesn’t bomb at the Esports World Cup 2026 and BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2, it will return to the top 15.
- 9z retains its lead in South America and, barring any changes, will secure most of the regional invites to tournaments in the upcoming season.
- A separate question is whether Monte’s core roster, playing under the Luminosity banner, will be able to hold onto its position. The team was fortunate that the XSE Pro League Guangzhou 2026 was not counted toward the rankings as an unfinished tournament; otherwise, the Canadian organization’s roster would already be six spots lower.
- Since The MongolZ is not part of the European region, its modest thirteenth-place finish doesn’t carry as much weight, though the situation itself is still unpleasant.
Top 50: A Permanent Home for Team Liquid
- 31. Sharks,
- 32. Nuclear TigeRES,
- 33. 3DMAX,
- 34. HOTU,
- 35. INFINITE,
- 36. Nemesis,
- 37. TDK,
- 38. HEROIC,
- 39. Gentle Mates,
- 40. Echo,
- 41. EYEBALLERS,
- 42. 100 Thieves,
- 43. Walczaki,
- 44. Team Liquid,
- 45. FOKUS,
- 46. Acend,
- 47. K27,
- 48. Virtus.pro,
- 49. JiJieHao,
- 50. SINNERS.
- It’s worth noting the strong showings by Nuclear TigeRES, HOTU, and Nemesis—their rankings will secure them some solid invites.
- 100 Thieves has changed captains and, together with Jack “Gizmy” von Sprekelsen, will try to break into the top 30—a major hurdle last season.
- Team Liquid isn’t making any headway—the “Horses” are hovering around the 50th spot and can’t seem to do anything about it.
- SINNERS couldn’t keep up with the competition and have dropped significantly in the rankings, despite having recently competed at the IEM Cologne Major 2026.
Tier 3 News
Let’s take a look beyond the top 50:
- NRG has disappeared from the Tier 1 scene and is now ranked 55th in the VRS standings. With the departure of Alexander “br0” Talevsky, the team has an open import slot, and the only question is what the Americans will do.
- FlyQuest continues its free fall, sitting in 56th place. The team shows no signs of finding solutions or answers to get out of this crisis.
- CYBERSHOKE Prospects is the best academy team in the world following its victory at the MySkill LG UltraGear Tournament 2026 in Kazakhstan. Interestingly, the youth squad has overtaken the main roster in the VRS rankings.
- Eternal Fire is in 65th place and is restructuring its roster. With br0 and Vladislav “Kvem” Korol on the roster, the Turkish organization has a decent chance of success.
- OG has not made any roster changes, and the team’s prospects are unclear—last season was a complete failure.
- MIBR fe is the top women’s team, with the girls ranked 187th.
