A Reddit user posted heatmaps of bomb plant sites based on the results of the IEM Cologne Major 2026

A Reddit user going by the handle chazeftw presented a detailed analysis of the competitive map pool from the recent Major, compiling data on every C4 plant.
Dust2 was the most frequently played map of the tournament—it was selected 24 times, and players planted the bomb 289 times, with a slight edge in favor of the A-site (159 vs. 130). Mirage showed the greatest imbalance, with 58% of all plantings occurring at Site A. Meanwhile, Inferno proved to be the most balanced map: the difference between the sites was just five plantings in favor of Site B.
On Nuke, the attack team more often planted at the lower B site (70 times versus 59 at A), while Overpass saw the highest planting density—at point B, all markers converged into a single cluster. Anubis was recognized as the map most focused on the B-site, where C4 was planted in 66% of rounds. Teams paid the least attention to Ancient—it was played only 9 times, with 59 plantings on A and 68 on B.
The IEM Cologne Major 2026 took place from June 2 to 21 in Germany. During the tournament, 32 teams competed for a prize pool of $1.25 million. Team Falcons emerged as the tournament champion, defeating FURIA 3-0 in the grand final at the LANXESS Arena. The European club earned half a million dollars for first place.
