Anti-cheat measures, a $15,000 event, and a new ban policy—all the details of FACEIT’s ninth season
The FACEIT platform has unveiled a comprehensive list of new features to mark the official start of the ninth competitive season.
As part of Season 9, the platform is launching the FACEIT Challenger Queue event with a $15,000 prize pool. The event will take place from August 5 to 9, and invitations will be sent to the top 500 players on the European ladder and the top 50 European teams according to the VRS ranking system.
In addition, the developers have added the Vertigo map back to the official map pool, updated player profiles with seasonal stats, revamped the mission system with badges, and added a praise feature to the match page.
They will also implement the Human Input Detection algorithm into the anti-cheat system, impose stricter bans for smurfing and cheating, and test the Half-Time Voice Chat feature during breaks when teams switch sides. To calibrate their rankings, users will need to play a series of matches, but Elo point drops during this competitive cycle will be less severe.
Earlier, the FACEIT administration announced that it had carried out a massive wave of bans, blocking 12,478 accounts. The restrictions affected users who violated the platform’s rules by smurfing and creating multiple accounts.
