Counter-Strike 2 celebrates its third anniversary

Counter-Strike 2 is now three years old. The game was released on Steam on September 27, 2023, replacing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Counter-Strike 2 took the place of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive after several months of closed beta testing. With its release, the new version became the main game in the series, while GO was removed from the Steam library and was no longer available for regular play. Later, Valve brought CS back to Steam as a separate version, though without full support from the developers.

Counter-Strike 2 features the updated Source 2 engine, redesigned maps, a new smoke system, and the Premier competitive mode.

According to Steam Charts, Counter-Strike 2’s peak concurrent players in August reached 1,331,274. Compared to July, the peak number of users decreased by 89,622, and the average concurrent player count fell by 3.28% to 853,232 players.
