G2 Esports and The MongolZ won their debut matches at the Esports World Cup 2026 CS2 tournament
G2 Esports and The MongolZ secured victories in their opening matches of the group stage at the 2026 Esports World Cup for Counter-Strike 2.
The first match between magic and The MongolZ took place on Mirage, where the Mongolian club defeated their opponents 13-7. In a parallel match on Mirage, G2 Esports faced off against M80; ultimately, Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač’s team proved stronger, securing a 13–11 victory.
As a result, G2 Esports and The MongolZ advanced to the upper bracket semifinals, while M80 and magic dropped to the first round of the lower bracket.
The Esports World Cup 2026 for Counter-Strike 2 is taking place from August 12 to 23 in Paris. Thirty-two teams—some directly invited and others having advanced through qualifiers—are competing against each other for a total prize pool of $2,000,000.
