Aurora Gaming captain Damian “kyxsan” Stoilkovski, in an interview at the 2026 Esports World Cup for CS2, assessed his team’s current level, commented on Özgür “woxic” Eker’s playstyle, and discussed how his personal opinions influence the roster’s decisions.
I think we’re capable of playing better. Of course, our level was good enough to make it to the playoffs, but we didn’t have to beat any of the top 5 teams in the world rankings to do so. Let’s put it this way: so far, we haven’t faced the strongest opponents. We still have a lot to improve on, since we’re essentially a new team. However, I’m incredibly happy with our current achievements, even though I’m confident we’re capable of more.
It seems to me that woxic is the kind of sniper who wants to be active on the map, play aggressively, and make specific plays. I’m not sure how often he played that way before. Perhaps he recently went through a phase where, for some reason, he was playing a bit passively, but I understood his playstyle right away. I think he’s very happy with his role right now, so in that regard, we’re definitely “on the same page.”
It might be easier for me to call shots now than it was with the Falcons, because my voice carries much more weight here. Of course, there are other opinions in the team besides mine. For example, XANTARES is very experienced; he has his own take on certain things. In any case, there are far fewer individual preferences at Aurora than on my previous team. Of course, this makes things easier for me, since I can do my job calmly and without interference.
Yesterday, Aurora Gaming lost to FURIA in their first match of the playoffs at the 2026 Esports World Cup in CS2, with a score of 1–2 in a best-of-3 series. Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski’s roster finished the tournament in 9th–16th place.
