G2 Esports coach Eetu “sAw” Sahka, in an interview during ESL Pro League Season 24, commented on his team’s loss to 1w Team and reflected on the “Samurai’s” struggles and ShindeN’s playstyle.
Overall, the start of the tournament was tough. In the first two matches, we weren’t able to perform at our usual level. In yesterday’s match against 1w Team, our team made frequent mistakes, and our opponents managed to capitalize on them. Of course, we played well on Ancient, but that wasn’t enough—our losses in the pistol rounds on the other two maps took their toll. Our losing streak continues.
I think the team lacks patience in crucial situations, and on top of that, we haven’t always been playing as a cohesive unit lately. We definitely need to fix these issues, regain our former confidence, secure a win today, and try to make it to the playoffs despite the two losses. Essentially, we’ve put ourselves in a difficult position.
I believe ShindeN studies Tier 1 team demos—I’ve noticed they use rounds that are played at the top level. For this reason, you can’t say they play a random style. Nevertheless, ShindeN has aggressive players capable of creating chaos on the map and throwing opponents off balance. We’ve prepared well for such tactics. I hope we’ll manage to win.
Yesterday, G2 Esports lost to 1w Team 1-2 in maps during the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 24. Now the “Samurai” are facing off against ShindeN—the losing team will finish the tournament in last place.
