Magic captain Vitaly “sFade8” Marushka spoke in an interview at the Esports World Cup 2026 about the team’s performance at PGL Astana 2026, the challenges of transitioning from online to LAN play, and the team’s preparation following roster changes.
It was very difficult for us to get started at PGL Astana 2026, but we began communicating more and made some adjustments to our gameplay. And we started playing much better than before. That’s why it was easier for us to play against Tier 2 teams in the LAN stage—they aren’t as tough as they are online. We have a slight advantage in understanding them since we constantly play against them online. And we saw how they start to get nervous or something like that. And we saw that the Tier 2 teams don’t play as well as they do online. But the Tier 1 teams play as well as ever.
molodoy helped me a lot because he always gave me confidence. After he joined FURIA, I started believing in myself much more. It was a great experience playing with molodoy because he’s a different kind of player. He’s on another level. He plays on instinct. On a different level compared to regular players. Because his confidence is just on another level. Confidence and understanding—it’s in his DNA. We worked a lot with him. So I think, for me, it was a very important experience—playing with him.
We were constantly changing players. We traded molodoy to FURIA. That was a huge transfer. When AW came back, and MaSvAl and tenzy joined, we started working hard—maybe for half a year. And we got a good result at PGL Astana 2026. We couldn’t believe we made it to the semifinals. But once we started playing, we began to feel like we were playing well. We could see exactly what we wanted to do. Something like that.
Earlier, magic defeated 3DMAX 2–0 in Group D at the 2026 Esports World Cup for Counter-Strike 2. Tomorrow, Vitaly “sFade8” Marushka’s team will face the loser of the FURIA/9z Team match for a spot in the tournament’s playoffs.
