Esports player Epitácio “TACO” de Melo reacted on his personal X page to LOUD and Keyd Stars’ departure from the Counter-Strike 2 pro scene, and also reflected on how the ban on bookmakers in Brazil influenced the organizations’ decisions.
There is currently active discussion on social media about LOUD and Keyd Stars leaving CS. It’s clear that the ban on betting companies played a role, but did the organizations leave the discipline solely because of that? Perhaps the current situation merely accelerated decisions that were already being considered in light of sporting and financial factors.
Of course, sponsorship is an extremely important aspect, but the viability of clubs also depends on their results, planning, and actions within the CS ecosystem. I think it’s dangerous to reduce everything to the formula “no bookmaker investor, no project.”
I hope that one day LOUD and Keyd Stars will return. These organizations are capable of making a significant contribution to the development of the Brazilian pro scene.
Earlier, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced a complete ban on online betting within the country. Following this, Keyd Stars left CS2, and LOUD disbanded its roster before the official announcement.
