Analyst Duncan “Thorin” Shields spoke about the recent Counter-Strike 2 update and assessed Valve’s new silent reload mechanic in the latest episode of the Snake & Banter podcast.
Here’s what I’ll say: a lot of people who haven’t logged into the game since the update will be confused. If you look at social media, aside from the update itself, there have been posts about some changes that might be coming in the future. For example, a rifle that kills with a single shot and has four rounds, and so on—something in the vein of the old Call of Duty. There were a lot of strange suggestions that aren’t related to the current update yet. This update introduced silent reloading. And I have to give Valve credit here. <...> I liked how they implemented it—it’s pretty much what I expected. There’s a trade-off here: yes, you can reload silently, but it takes longer. Some players have already found ways to work around this mechanic—for example, by double-tapping “Q” and so on. ...> In my opinion, as far as the update goes, it’s generally good and hasn’t broken the game at all.
Earlier, Valve released an update for Counter-Strike 2 that revamped the map selection process in Premier, added Rush mode, and introduced the ability to reload weapons silently. In addition, the developers updated the crosshair settings, made changes to a number of maps, and fixed several bugs.
