Team Vitality sniper Mathieu “ZywOo” Erbo spoke in an interview at BLAST Open Porto 2026 about his own inconsistency and the team’s slump, and also shared his thoughts on playing with stand-in Justinas “jL” Lekavičius.
Of course, I’m less consistent. And I’m still working on that. I’m playing a bit more. But I feel like I’m still learning a lot in many areas: communication, teamwork, and taking responsibility. And I make a lot of mistakes. Back in the day, I didn’t do that. Because of that, it gets harder for me and for the team. So, I think that when I play that way and miss a lot of things—maybe I’m not listening as much—it makes the game harder for me and for the team. So it’s tough.
jL is still a good player. He really fits in well with the team, including in terms of his role. I think he’s very comfortable. We need to show that, even without mezii, we can still perform really well. Of course, we’re not playing under the same pressure as the favorites, but we still feel the pressure—we want to perform well. We want to play high-quality CS. We want to get better day by day.
I don’t think it’s hard for me to adapt to jL. I had the same issues at the 2026 Esports World Cup for CS2. There are some maps where I play poorly, and there are some maps where I play well. So, I don’t think it matters whether jL is on the team with me or not. It’s more about me—I’m the one having more trouble.
Sometimes we play really well, but other times—we play like a really crappy team. So, obviously, we just need to be more consistent in how we play together, because sometimes, for example, we lose 2-1. We’re just taking turns falling apart. A year ago, we didn’t play like that. We just played together, we communicated: “I’ll take this, I’ll take that.” And it’s exactly those little things that cause us to lose rounds. We’re making so many little mistakes that we don’t usually make. And maybe we’ve become more frustrated; there are more of these kinds of things that are making everything even harder for us.
Earlier, Team Vitality defeated Legacy 2–1 in maps during the group stage of the BLAST Open Porto 2026. Today, Mathieu “ZywOo” Erbo’s team will face off against FUT Esports for a spot in the tournament’s playoffs.
