Ace: “Techies is in very good shape in the current patch.”

Team Liquid players Markus Folke “Ace” Helgaard Christensen and Erik “tOfu” Engel suggested several hero combinations for the mid lane on the team’s YouTube channel.

On Centaur Warrunner and Rubick

tOfu: Combo number one—simple to execute but very strong: Rubick and Centaur Warrunner.

Ace: A mega-combo. Rubick harasses well and can lift the target so that Centaur Warrunner can then stun it. They have a good range to catch anyone who gets too close to Centaur Warrunner. Works well throughout the game, strong in the lane, and scales well. A stable duo.

On Magnus and Techies

Ace: I think Techies is in great shape in the current patch; he’s very strong, and Magnus is decent on his own, but together they become very powerful.

tOfu: A classic. Everyone has seen it somewhere before—there’s constant danger across the map: mines are placed in unexpected spots, and Magnus has a Blink Dagger. No one feels safe—boom. And it’s also a lot of fun to play.

On Phoenix and Tusk

tOfu: A ranged hero for a difficult lane: Phoenix, who is very strong right now and is a meta hero. And we pair him with a melee support—it can vary, but Tusk is very strong right now. They make for a strong lane, with plenty of stuns and crowd control, all facilitated by the Black King Bar. It’s a duo you can throw into almost any game.

Ace: Tusk has a passive ability that reduces attack speed, which Phoenix really likes—it’s an extra nice synergy effect.

Earlier, Team Liquid offlaner Marcus Folke “Ace” Helgaard Christensen named the best heroes for the mid lane in the current meta, highlighting Lycan, Slardar, Underlord, and Dawnbreaker and explaining the reasons for their strength in the current patch.
