GamerLegion carry Yuma “Yuma” Langle spoke in an interview at BLAST SLAM VIII about the process of joining his new club, answered a question about his expectations for the 2026/27 season, and shared his impressions of the team’s communication during the first map against Team Liquid in the tournament’s group stage.
It all started after TI: I talked to some of the people involved—and in the end, everything fell into place. It feels good. I’ve worked with some of them before, and they’re good people—it’s a pleasure to work with them.
We’re still in the exploratory phase. I bring my ideas, consider their suggestions, and try to find a middle ground. They have some pretty good concepts, but in my opinion, there were a few things missing, and I shared that with them. Basically, we’re learning as we go.
I told the guys that, in my opinion, our communication in the first game felt like we were losing, even though the game was pretty even for almost the entire time, until we started making those moves where you feel like you’re losing, and you try to do something about it. I was surprised by how it ended, but at the same time, I never stopped believing that we could win.
In the second game… We’ve only been playing together for four days, trying new things—and changing things up from series to series. I don’t think anyone could have predicted in advance that we’d pick Meepo today. I take things one step at a time, one day at a time.
I don’t like setting expectations. The main thing is that we play and are satisfied with ourselves, with no regrets. It’s important to me not to dwell on the past. If I don’t have those kinds of thoughts after a tournament or a game, then I’m satisfied and can move on.
I thought it would be good for them—and for us—to become more consistent, at least in terms of making the playoffs, which in itself is already a big step, in my opinion. That would be one of my expectations.
Yuma joined GL on September 29. As the team’s first position player, he replaced Daniel “Ghost” Chan, with whom the team competed at The International 2026, where they finished in 9th–13th place.
GamerLegion knocked Team Liquid out of BLAST SLAM VIII but failed to advance to the next round after losing to LGD Gaming. The team finished in 7th–8th place, earning $20,000. Six teams will continue to compete in Malta, where the playoffs will begin on October 8.
