DM on how to get better at Dota 2: “Try to focus on your own game and not dwell on other people’s mistakes.”

Team Yandex offlaner Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin, during a live stream on the club’s Twitch channel, offered advice to aspiring pro players, discussed potential career paths outside of Dota 2, and shared his goals for The International 2026.
On advice for aspiring pro players
First, try to focus on your own game and not dwell on others’ mistakes. Second—if you feel like you’re really tilting or in a very bad mood, try not to play at that moment, because you’ll waste your time, you’ll most likely lose, and you’ll upset yourself and your teammates.
Well, basically, you won’t be doing anyone any favors by doing that. So, yes, approach the game with discipline.
On a possible career outside of Dota 2
Hmm, most likely, I’d be either a lawyer or a diplomat. One of the two. Because languages come easily to me, and I’d definitely do very well in diplomacy. As for being a lawyer, I just feel like it’s pretty easy for me to get my point across to other people or prove it. It’s like it comes naturally to me.
On the goal for The International 2026
My mindset is that it’s easier to approach a tournament thinking that I need to play well, take care of my own form and the team’s form, and then everything will fall into place on its own. Actually, that’s why I don’t have any thoughts like, “I have to finish in such-and-such a place” or “I have to do this.” No, nothing like that.
Team Yandex’s next match will take place at the Esports World Cup 2026, which will be held in-person from July 7 to 19 in Paris, the capital of France. The 24 participating teams will compete for the grand prize of $2,000,000.
