Dota 2 Update as of August 1, 2026: Lifestealer’s head model has been updated
On the night of August 1, the Dota 2 developers released a technical update. The changes affected localization, sound effects, and visual elements for several heroes.
List of Changes
- Localization has been updated for several dozen languages, including Russian—the changes affected ability descriptions, items, patch notes, and support team compositions for The International 2026.
- Textures and the projection effect for Aspect of Oscilla—Silencer’s Immortal shield from Immortal Treasure II 2020—have been updated.
- Lifestealer’s model has been updated—the changes affect the character’s head geometry.
- The ability icons and the Demon Eater Arcana set for Shadow Fiend have been updated.
- Added a new pop-up window for purchasing Support Team Set content.
- Updated the client and server components of the game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Changes have been made to the file containing the list of commentators for The International 2026.
- Steam Workshop tools and resources have been updated.
The update size was 47.7 MB.
Valve previously released the “Summer Cleanup” update for Dota 2. Players in the “Titan” tier had their MMR recalculated, Random Draft was removed from ranked modes, and along with the “Cleanup,” balance patch 7.41e was released, in which the developers nerfed Clockwerk, Drow Ranger, and Snapfire.
