Insider and data miner Maxim “Gabe Follower” Poletaev noted a significant drop in Dota 2’s peak concurrent users and suggested that it might be related to the developers’ efforts to combat bot inflation on custom maps.
It appears that more than 300,000 users in Dota 2 were Chinese bots used to inflate the player count in the “Game Library.” The new daily peak stood at 700,000, down from 1,000,000 last week.
Previously, the average concurrent player count in Dota 2 reached a 10-year high, and before that, following the release of the Trove of Terror with Immortal sets and Arcana sets for Drow Ranger and Tidehunter, the peak figure set a record for 2022.
