Esports player Nungnara “23savage” Tiramahanoon took to social media to discuss a police raid on the Xipto Esports players’ boot camp.
According to the carry, a police unit unexpectedly visited the ongoing boot camp. The police confiscated the passports and phones of those present, cut off their internet access, and shut down their computers; they also handcuffed Muhammad Sayefullah “Fbz” Ilham, Chan “Oli” Chong Kin, and 23savage himself.
While verifying their identities, one of the police officers mentioned that he was familiar with Dota 2 and Fnatic—an esports club that had previously featured players from Southeast Asia, including Malaysia. He then checked 23savage’s social media, where he recognized a local model—Ms. Puiyi—in one of the photos.
Next, according to the carry player, his handcuffs were removed so he could demonstrate his gaming skills, and the police officer watched the match, which he finished with 32 kills—a performance that helped clear him of suspicion. The player complained that two packages of peanut butter were taken from him during the investigation, but he considered the experience positive.
Tomorrow at 11:00 a.m., Xipto Esports will compete in the closed qualifier for DreamLeague Season 30. The qualifier features a two-tier bracket with best-of-two matches, and a best-of-three series for the slot.
The Xipto roster featuring 23savage was announced a month and a half ago and includes former players from the Indonesian REKONIX roster.
In mid-August of last year, the Dubai Police held a series of esports tournaments—for Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and other games—with a total prize pool of approximately 4.5 million rubles.
