Astra Invicta coach Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Tahasomi, in an interview on KheZu’s YouTube channel, touched on the removal of the DPC system from competitive Dota 2 while answering a question about the game’s decline in popularity.
I think the DPC is one of the reasons why things got worse. The ecosystem changed—perhaps not for the better—and I think many players’ careers were ruined.
The DPC was riddled with match-fixing. That’s the main reason Valve got rid of it, if you ask me. It was completely riddled with it—every region was fixing matches, except for Europe, actually. Europe was the only legitimate region.
It’s also the case that Dota 2 is an old game—we have to give it that credit. So it’s just bad luck that the Europeans started playing now. We had a few, but there weren’t many. It’s a combination of factors—sort of a natural process.
Earlier, Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Tahasomi named Amer “Miracle-” al-Barqawi the best Dota 2 player of all time and also spoke about attempts to bring him back to the pro scene.
