miCKe on preventing burnout: “We’re all playing from home right now”

Кирилл Александров

Team Liquid carry Michael “miCKe” Wu, in an interview at DreamLeague Season 29, explained the reason for the loss on the first map against Vici Gaming and shared how the team is combating burnout throughout the season.

On the first map against Vici Gaming

I think it was a classic first game of the day for Liquid, plus a bit of an outdraft. That’s probably what it came down to.

I don’t blame Blitz because he had to get up at 5 a.m. in America. Maybe even at 3 a.m. So he had just woken up, and it was tough for him. I don’t blame him.

On Jabz asking him to play ranked matches

That’s true. At the beginning of the year, we had issues with team chemistry and so on, and mechanically we weren’t in top form either. So we had a long team talk, and we decided to set a sort of quota. And it worked. So we’re just continuing in the same vein.

Usually we try to pair up with our lane partners—Boxi with Ace, and me with tOfu. We try to get on the same team. Meanwhile, Nisha does his own thing because he’s the only one in mid.

On preventing burnout during the season

We’re all playing from home right now. Usually we’re at bootcamp 24/7, but this time we decided to stay home and take it a little easier so we could go about our business. That’s how we maintain a balance. We’re still playing Dota, but not as intensely or with as much focus as we do at bootcamp.
