MieRo on personal progress: “I’ve learned to focus on myself.”

Кирилл Александров

BetBoom Team offlaner Matvey “MieRo” Vasyunin spoke with BLAST about Patch 7.41, explained the importance of a team psychologist, and shared his expectations for BLAST Slam VII.

On Patch 7.41

The new patch really breathes new life into Dota. It’s pretty interesting, and I really enjoy playing on it. The most overpowered heroes have changed, new neutral and standard items have appeared, and minor map changes have been made.

On the challenges leading up to 7.41

In the previous patch, we had a hard time properly adapting to the meta. We lacked the depth to play certain heroes from the old meta, as well as others. We also have a new coach, and we’re working on defining our playstyle to suit the new patch.

On what’s preventing BB Team from becoming the world’s best team

I don’t think anything can stop us. We need time to adapt to the meta and find our style, and that will happen soon [The interview was conducted before the start of PGL Wallachia Season 8. — Ed.]. It’s all about belief.

We need to improve our communication, and with our new psychologist, we should see results soon. He’s teaching us a lot of new things, focusing on finer details, and I hope this will help us communicate and play better.

On the importance of a psychologist in the industry

It’s not that important, but we need to adapt to changing circumstances. In a team where we spend most of our time together, we need to find solutions and figure out how to solve problems. These can be communication issues, psychological issues, etc., and psychologists can help with that.

On expectations for BLAST Slam VII

The tournament will be interesting because of the new format. I hope we qualify for the LAN and get to play on stage.

On personal progress

I’ve learned to focus on myself. It’s better not to look at other players—just at yourself. But what’s even more important is not to blame others for your poor performance; instead, you should focus on getting better.
