Papita on the PlayTime situation: “With match-fixing like this, any tournament loses all legitimacy.”

Former beastcoast coach Mariano “Papita” Caneda commented on X about the situation surrounding PlayTime’s disqualification from the 2026 Esports World Cup and stated that stricter controls over tournament participants are needed.
I just can’t believe it—I’m in complete shock. Yesterday we came up with 200 theories about what was going on, but not a single one even came close to the truth. To mess things up so badly, and at little Wits’ first EWC, no less… I’ve said this once before and I’ll say it again: Wits, please follow Timado’s example.
A little later, Mariano added:
Now that such corruption has been exposed on the world stage, tournament organizers need to lock every player in a bunker with no internet and no contact with the outside world. With fixed matches like this, any tournament loses all legitimacy.
Earlier, analyst Khaled “sQreen” El-Habbash commented on PlayTime’s disqualification from the 2026 EWC in Dota 2: “Please release the evidence, or, if guilt hasn’t been proven, the team has every right to continue playing.”
