The French gambling regulator reiterated the ban on esports betting

The French national gambling regulator, ANJ, reminded the public on its official website that betting on esports is prohibited in the country.
The ANJ emphasized the risks of using unregistered betting sites and noted the importance of the ban, which is aimed at protecting young people from gambling addiction. The regulator also noted that only four categories of gambling are permitted in France: purchasing lottery tickets, betting on horse racing and sports, and playing poker—provided an ANJ license is held.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron commented on the 2026 Esports World Cup in Paris and thanked Saudi Arabia for its trust. The politician noted that the country is ready to host the Esports World Cup and once again welcome participants from around the world.
