Commentator Kevin “Purge” Godek took to X to speak out about Venomancer players who max out Plague Wards and ignore leveling up other abilities in the early game.
I really wish Venomancers in my games would stop maxing out Plague Wards first. Venomous Gale deals a ton of damage. And with the change to the ultimate ability, the damage becomes massive if you don’t reset the debuffs. Pro players can still use Plague Wards effectively for other purposes, but I’m sick of Venomancers with a 1/1/4 build who don’t deal any damage at all.

Earlier, Team Liquid players Mike “miCKe” Wu and Eric “tOfu” Engel suggested hero pairings for the soft lane in ranked games on the team’s YouTube channel: Spectre with Venomancer or Lich, as well as Wraith King with Crystal Maiden.
