Team Spirit, GamerLegion, Vici Gaming, and Team Liquid secured victories on Day 2 of the group stage at The International 2026

Team Spirit, GamerLegion, Vici Gaming, and Team Liquid won their matches on the second day of The International 2026 group stage against Aurora Gaming, Xtreme Gaming, L1GA TEAM, and Team Yandex, respectively.

On the first map of the Team Spirit vs. Aurora Gaming matchup, the teams were evenly matched for a long time. Starting at the 23-minute mark, Aurora began to pull ahead, but before the end of the game, the “Dragons” turned the tables. On the second map, the teams again prevented each other from gaining an advantage, but Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov’s squad took control of the situation shortly before the end.

The first game of the Xtreme Gaming vs. GamerLegion series was dominated by the latter: the team gradually increased its economic lead, and eventually the Chinese squad surrendered. On the second map, the sides were evenly matched for a long time, but GL pulled ahead starting at the 31-minute mark.

In the L1GA TEAM vs. Vici Gaming match, the Eastern European team opened the scoring, but the opponents then evened the score, and on the decisive map, the players from the Chinese club proved to be the stronger side.

Team Yandex and Team Liquid traded map wins, and in the final game, the Western European team looked more confident starting in the mid-game.

As a result, Spirit and Liquid advanced to the 2:0 subgroup, Aurora, Liquid, GL, and VG to the 1:1 bracket, and XG and L1GA TEAM to the 0:2 round.

This year, The International is taking place in Shanghai from August 13 to 23; as of now, the prize pool has reached $2.9 million, surpassing the level of the previous tournament in the series. The group stage will run through August 16.
