Wits on the match against Liquid at the Esports World Cup 2026: “Taking a map from a team of that caliber is always cool.”

Carry PlayTime Hector “Wits” Orosco Alsó spoke in an interview following the series against Team Liquid during the group stage of the 2026 Esports World Cup in Dota 2 about the victory on the second map, the match itself, and the choice of Shadow Fiend.
On the victory on the second map
I’m very happy with the result. Taking a map from a team of this caliber is always cool, so I’m in a great mood.
On the series
Actually, we could very well have won 2-0. On the first map, we made a mistake at a crucial moment, which caused us to lose our advantage. But by the second game, we’d worked on our mistakes and completely turned things around. I’d like to give a special shout-out to Scofield—he did a tremendous job coordinating. Throughout the entire match, he literally led us around the map. That really helped the team. [Did that help you overcome your nerves before the start of the second map?] Yes, absolutely.
On Shadow Fiend
I feel completely comfortable playing this hero; it’s one of my signature picks. Actually, we hadn’t planned on picking Shadow Fiend for the second map at all. But we got stuck during the final pick phase, and at the very last moment, I decided that we had to pick him.
Earlier, PlayTime player Yelstín Brian “Elmisho” Verde Urtado assessed the team’s competitiveness at the 2026 Esports World Cup in Dota 2: “In fact, we’re capable of competing on equal footing with absolutely any opponent.”
