xNova: “Ever since I became an esports player, I feel like my dad has been my biggest supporter.”

Xtreme Gaming support player Yap “xNova” Jian Wei spoke about his father’s support and recalled participating in his first tournaments in Malaysia. A video featuring the pro player was posted on the social media accounts of the Malaysian project Inscribed.
Ever since I became an esports player, I feel like my dad has been my biggest supporter. Sometimes he would stay up late or wake up in the middle of the night to watch my matches on TV.
Back when I was 13 or 14, I started participating in various tournaments in Malaysia, and back then, my dad would drive me to the gaming clubs for the competitions. At first, he wouldn’t let me go, but then he probably softened his stance and started taking me there after all.
Earlier, Enjoy support player Vladislav “Rein” Kosygin spoke on the OFFSTAGE podcast about how he got into Dota 2, his mother’s attitude toward esports, explained the meaning behind his nickname with Chinese characters, and recalled his time playing in China as part of Virtus.pro.
