As part of the second beta test for Version 4.7, which will take place on October 10, players will be able to try out a new themed mode with random glyph abilities, the “Aurora Pegasus” vehicle, and the “Angled Grip” weapon accessory. In addition, the developers have announced a new mode, “Erangel: Subzero,” featuring new mechanics and locations.
Classic Mode
Themed Mode
Character Abilities
- Active Skill — Dazzling Step: Can be used anywhere on the map. Use the power of radiance to perform a double jump and a short dash.
- By collecting a certain number of Feathers of Power, you’ll have a higher chance of obtaining a Level 2 or Level 3 skill in themed mode.
Glyph Skill Mechanics
- Glyph Skill Distribution: At the start of the match, the system grants each player a random passive skill. Some players will also randomly receive the “Aurora’s Pegasus” item.
- Glyph Altars: Several of these altars will appear across the map, and you can interact with them to randomly obtain a new passive skill.
- Glyph Skill Capture: When a player has two glyph skills, they will randomly lose one of them upon being defeated. Search the player’s chest to obtain the dropped glyph skill.
Glyph Skill Effects
- “Tactical Shield” Glyph Skill: When health drops below a certain threshold, a shield is automatically generated to protect the player. If you are knocked down, you can also use a small shield to block shots. At higher levels, this skill increases the health threshold at which the shield activates, as well as the durability and duration of both the main shield and the small shield during knockdowns.
- “Accelerated Healing” Glyph Skill: Use healing consumables faster and revive downed allies more quickly. At higher levels, this skill allows players to heal and revive allies even faster.
- “Quick Reload” Glyph Skill: Reload and weapon-switch speeds increase with the skill level.
- “Supply Detection” Glyph Skill: Picking up supplies triggers a search for high-quality supplies. The search radius increases with the skill level.
- “Armor Repair” Glyph Skill: Restores armor durability while moving. At higher levels, this skill restores armor durability faster and increases the maximum durability restored each time the skill activates.
- “Air Drop Prediction” Glyph Skill: Allows you to know in advance where an air drop will appear, some time before it lands. Once the air drop is opened, the notification of its location disappears. As the skill level increases, its cooldown and the time between the notification and the actual landing of the cargo decrease.
About Glyph Skills
- All glyph skills have levels 1–3. Higher-level skills are significantly more effective.
- High-level skills can only be obtained randomly and cannot be upgraded during a match.
- All players have a high chance of obtaining a Level 1 skill at the start of a match and a lower chance of obtaining a Level 2 or Level 3 skill.
Themed Vehicles
- Aurora’s Pegasus: An exclusive air and ground mount that can be summoned, recalled, or left on the battlefield at any time. Climb onto the Pegasus on the ground and take off with a double jump. While flying, you can hover in the air or flap your wings to climb higher. Upon entering the Aurora zone, the Pegasus will be affected by its effect, which will change its appearance and flight characteristics.
A spin-off of the classic mode
Erangel: Subzero
- Mode Overview: During a secret experiment, a catastrophic malfunction caused several Taitoニック satellites to crash onto Erangel. Upon impact with the ground, the satellites depressurized, releasing cryogenic gas that soon spread across the entire island. The Blue Zone was not spared either, and Erangel’s climate began to change under the onslaught of intensifying cold. The crash sites were encased in ice, and soon the island found itself at the mercy of sudden and severe weather changes.
Area Updates:
- Stalber: Experiments with magnetic fields were once conducted in Stalber, but the cryogenic gas that leaked from the crashed satellite froze everything here.
- Shelter: Shelter was once a secret Taitoニック warehouse for storing satellites, and has now also become one of the satellite crash sites. Rumors suggest that satellites carrying rare supplies have appeared in some locations, including somewhere here.
- Sosnovka Military Base & Boatyard: The freezing caused by cryogenic gas from a crashed satellite has also affected this area.
Other:
- One of the satellites crashed onto the bridge leading to the Sosnovka Military Base, causing it to partially collapse.
- The plains in the southwest of Erangel have also undergone significant changes.
- Due to a sharp drop in temperature, some bodies of water have frozen over.
Gameplay
-
Dynamic Weather:
- Erangel features dynamic weather that will randomly cycle through four different weather types over time. During the initial drop and while in the final play zone, the weather across the entire map will always be clear.
- Blizzards may occur in snow-covered areas. Blizzards reduce visibility and apply a slight slow effect to players in that area.
- During a blizzard, destroyed snowdrifts will regenerate.
-
Satellite Crash:
- A special airdrop that may contain a thermal protection suit exclusive to this mode.
- During a match, satellites will randomly drop four times, accompanied by several small blue zone devices.
- Players will receive a notification before it crashes. Once a Blue Zone device hits the ground, it will create a smaller Blue Zone.
- There are five locations on Erangel where satellites could have landed before the match even began. There is a chance that a satellite could appear at each of these locations at the start of the match.
-
Frozen Doors:
- At the start of the match, the doors and windows of some buildings will be frozen shut during the blizzard.
- It’s hard to see through the frozen windows, and you can’t climb through them directly. If you break the ice, an icy fog will form.
- Frozen doors cannot be opened or closed. They can only be destroyed to pass through them, which will also create an icy fog.
- Use a liquid nitrogen canister to freeze unfrozen doors and windows.
-
Destroyable snowdrifts:
- Due to severe cold and snowfall, snowdrifts will appear on the map.
- Snowdrifts can be destroyed by vehicles, but they can also be reinforced with a liquid nitrogen canister, turning them into frozen snowdrifts that can no longer be destroyed by vehicles.
Themed Items
- Thermal Protection Suit: An item that can only be obtained from a satellite. It occupies a Maskhala slot and cannot be used in conjunction with it. Inside the blue zone, it grants immunity to blue zone damage at the cost of durability. When durability runs out, it ceases to protect the wearer from blue zone damage.
- “Zone” Grenade: A special device that creates a small blue zone, the effect of which can stack with the map’s blue zone. After the pin is pulled and the delay timer expires, a blue zone will begin to expand from the point of impact. The blue zone will reach its maximum size and remain active for a short time, after which it will begin to contract in the opposite direction until it disappears.
- Liquid Nitrogen Cylinder: In this mode, Molotov cocktails are replaced by liquid nitrogen cylinders. Liquid nitrogen cylinders deal damage to enemies faster than Molotov cocktails, but the damage they deal is lower. After exploding, a liquid nitrogen canister quickly spreads a frost zone. Players standing within the frost zone take continuous damage and are slowed.
- “Snow Fog” rounds: special smoke ammunition for pistol slots, fired from a grenade launcher. They release a snow fog that spreads quickly after detonation, but it also dissipates much faster than regular smoke.
- Snowboard: Use a snowboard to move quickly across Vikendi and icy surfaces.
Vehicle and Weapon Adjustments
- Classic Vehicles: The snowmobile and snow bike have been added to the “Erangel: Subzero” mode.
- Classic Weapons: The G36C has been added to the “Erangel: Subzero” mode.
- Classic vehicles in the “Erangel: Subzero” mode now feature anti-skid tires, providing relatively stable handling when driving on ice.
Previously, based on the results of a player vote, the developers brought back the “Sea Odyssey” mode and added a variety of themed items and vehicles.
