Fangor: “I guess Virtus.pro was the only team I didn’t like because of the club’s attitude toward the players.”

This weekend marks the end of the MCC Season 8 regular season. The new Aurevia team, featuring former Virtus.pro players, remains one of the tournament’s leaders and contenders for a spot at M8. Ahead of the decisive matches, we spoke with the team’s roamer, Stanislav “Fangor” Gorin—he talked about his new club, Fangor’s return, and teamwork.

Let’s start with how your journey began with this roster. What were your thoughts when you took on the stand-in role at Virtus.pro for MCC Season 7? Did you expect this to be a full-fledged, long-term return—or were you thinking more about your streaming career?

I was the one who suggested to the guys that we play on the same team, since they hadn’t really gelled yet, and we were playing together often in ranked matches. Streaming has mostly taken a back seat, although I try to stream every day.

You’ve said that esports is tough because the schedule depends not only on you but also on other people. Have you gotten used to it now? And were there any gameplay-related difficulties?

For the most part, it’s no different—whether we’re talking about the schedule or the meta. The only downside is living a life dictated by practice sessions and tournaments, which doesn’t even depend on your team.

In this roster, you’re much more experienced and a bit older than most of the players. Does that affect your gameplay? Sometimes in esports, many “veterans” complain that it’s hard to work with younger players.

We don’t have that problem; the team chemistry is good: we try to joke around and have fun together. Sometimes there are misunderstandings, just like in any team, but we resolve them right away.

Tell us a little about your organization. Based on your previous experience, which teams would you compare Aurevia to?

All the teams I’ve played for were good in their own way. I guess the only one I didn’t like was Virtus.pro because of the club’s attitude toward the players—maybe I formed that opinion because the team had been with the organization for a long time, but still. Speaking specifically about Aurevia, it’s a great organization, but a new one. In many ways, the club still lacks experience, but the people here pick things up quickly and do their best for the players.

Before this season, Pluto joined your team as an analyst. Can you tell us a little more about what he does and what his responsibilities are?

He’s both a coach and an analyst. For us, Pluto is the person who guides the team and provides a valuable outside perspective. I’d say he makes a huge contribution to our results.

How would you assess your team’s current performance in MCC Season 8? Is this what you were hoping for?

Not quite—we still have a lot of shortcomings on our end. But we’re continuing to work on it.

How satisfied are you with how Magistor has adapted to the meta and the pro scene since his return?

Magistor is working very hard to make a full-fledged return to the top level. A lot of things don’t work the same way now as they did when he was playing for Deus Vult, but he listens, he learns—and that’s what matters most.

And what can you say about your current form?

On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate it around a 6.5. I’m still missing a lot, and I don’t get distracted very often.

What are your personal expectations for the end of the season, and what goals have you set for the final stage of the MCC?

At the end of any tournament, I always expect nothing but victory.

Aurevia Team has already secured a spot in the MLBB Continental Championships Season 8 playoffs. This stage of the league will begin on October 9, and the tournament finals will be played in a LAN format.
