How to Play Hirara: A Guide to the New MLBB Hero

On June 17, 2026, a new character—the assassin Hirara—was released in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Unlike other new characters, she doesn’t seem overpowered yet, and at the “Epic” rank, she actually started with the worst win rate among all characters. Players complain that Hirara struggles to farm in the jungle and doesn’t deal particularly high damage.
Nevertheless, in certain situations, she can be a good pick and live up to her potential in the game. In this guide, we’ll break down Hirara’s mechanics, show you the current recommended build for her, and discuss all the pros and cons of her gameplay.
Key Facts About Hirara
Hirara, also known as Scarlet Doom, is an “Assassin” character designed for the jungle. Although it’s not easy for her to farm in the early minutes, she can almost immediately support her allies’ attacks on the lanes and then ramp up her damage as the game progresses.
Like other Assassins, Hirara doesn’t have much mana early on, but her high movement speed combined with her abilities allows her to use her mobility to give her team an advantage on the map. By maintaining her pace, Red Death will inch closer to victory.
Hirara’s Stats:
- HP: 2,440;
- HP Regeneration: 6.6;
- Mana: 100;
- Mana Regeneration: 0;
- Physical Attack: 125;
- Physical Defense: 18;
- Magic Power: 0;
- Magic Defense: 15;
- Critical Damage: 200%;
- Speed: 260.
According to the developers’ concept, Hirara is designed to play the role of a jungler, but since her release, players have complained that it’s difficult for her to gain experience and earn her first gold. Perhaps in the future we’ll see her on the gold lane or the experience lane—for now, however, those who want to play this new hero will have to adapt to a challenging start.

How to Get Hirara in MLBB
From June 17 to June 22, the quest “Save Diamonds, Get a New Hero: Hirara” will be available in the game. During this time, players will be able to purchase the hero at a discount for 419 diamonds—and 100% of this amount can be refunded by logging into the game for 22 consecutive days.
In addition to diamonds, other resources will be available during the event, including skin fragments and shop tickets.
After the event ends—that is, starting June 23—Hirara will be available in the store at full price: 599 diamonds. Additionally, the hero can be purchased at any time for 32,000 Combat Points, but this currency is non-refundable, even during the event.

Character Skills
The main thing to know is that Hirara does not have an ultimate ability. Only two skills are available for leveling up, but the hero has two additional ones: so-called combos can be activated by dragging one skill onto another.
The standard abilities aren’t particularly powerful, but they’re used to link into combos and perform simple functions:
- Meisen-e (Movement) — one or two dashes in the direction the character is facing. Cooldown: 6 seconds; also deals 150 physical damage to enemies in its path;
- Kaerazu (area damage) — deals 255(+7) physical damage to enemies in front of the character, and after a short delay, doubles the damage in the same area. Cooldown: 5 seconds.
Thus, the first ability increases the hero’s mobility, while the second allows you to clear monsters in the jungle and on the lanes. This increases your versatility: with Meisen-e, you can move faster between lanes to support your team, while Kaerazu helps you farm the jungle more efficiently to unlock your full potential later in the game.

Combo abilities unlock after upgrading both primary skills and are available for use at any time, provided Hirara has charges (the red bar below the health bar). There are two charges in total, meaning the player can activate the combos one after another immediately.
To do this, drag one ability’s icon onto another in the correct order:
- Falling Maple (Skill 2 → Skill 1) — The character briefly becomes elusive, and once that effect ends, deals damage to the surrounding area.
- Hellish Torrent (Skill 1 → Skill 2) — The hero dashes forward, deals area-of-effect damage, and briefly immobilizes enemies in the area.
The first combo is well-suited for dealing area-of-effect damage, while the second increases mobility and helps Hirare catch up to an enemy and launch an attack.
Skill Combinations
Hirara’s main attack rotation involves using Scarlet Doom to quickly close the distance to enemy characters via Skill 1 and Infernal Torrent, then following up with Falling Maple—which deals damage and allows her to take a better position to continue the attack. In-game, it looks like this:
- S1 → S1+S2 → S2+S1.
If enemies are already close to Hirara, you can deal initial damage with Kaerazu and save the first skill for retreating:
- N2 → N1+N2 → N2+N1 → N1.
Although Hiraru was presented as a fairly complex character, in practice, mastering her assassin skill set can be straightforward after a little practice. If you want to play as Hiraru often, we recommend practicing pressing the skills in the correct order in training mode—in-game, muscle memory will allow you to use her attacks almost without thinking.
Skill Progression Order
Both standard skills, which improve with level, have their advantages: the first allows Hiraru to move faster and reach enemies more quickly, while the second increases damage, which is useful for farming.
In any case, it’s best to start by leveling the damage skill (Kaerazu), and then you can level both skills evenly with a slight emphasis on damage.
- H2 → H1 → H2 → H1 → H2 → H2 → H1 → H2 → H1 → H2 → H1 → H2 → H1 → H2 → H1.
Two factors influence the order in which you should learn skills: the need to leave the jungle and join a lane, and whether your enemies have escape abilities. If you want to play aggressively from the very start and are worried that your opponents might escape you, level up the first skill. If you want to farm and focus on damage, then level up the second skill.

The Best Build for Hirara
As for the build, the choices for Hirara are no different from those for other mobile junglers (such as Saber). Among combat spells, Retribution is by far the best choice for Hirara—there are simply no other alternatives for jungle play. In very rare cases (for example, if you’re trying out the hero in a different role), you can use Stun to execute skill combos or Shield for a more precise playstyle.
Talents also follow the standard setup for such heroes: Hirara uses assassin-focused bonuses, among which Rift is almost a must-have. The second effective emblem is “Killing Feast,” and for the third, it’s best to choose “Master Assassin” with a bonus to single-target damage. Alternatives could be “Weapons Master,” “Deadly Ignition,” or “Seasoned Hunter.”
Thus, your build before the match starts might look like this:
- Main Option: Retribution + Rift, Master Assassin, Deadly Feast;
- Alternative: Retribution + Rift, Weapons Master, Ignition;
- For beginners: Shield + Burst, Seasoned Hunter, Killing Feast.
What Gear to Buy
To increase her effectiveness in combat, Hirare needs items that boost her damage (bonuses to physical attack and attack speed), reduce ability cooldowns, and enhance her mobility.
The standard item build is as follows:
- Ice Hunter’s Magic Boots — provide movement speed and cooldown reduction, and also help with farming in the jungle;
- Hunter’s Strike — the best starting weapon, improving exactly what Hirare needs: physical attack and cooldown reduction;
- War Axe — also increases damage and reduces ability cooldowns;
- Blade of Despair — provides bonuses to physical attack and movement speed;
- Furious Roar — a bonus to physical penetration, which further boosts final damage;
- Golden Meteor — a survivability item that provides a shield when health is low and is almost always essential for Hirare.
For a more aggressive playstyle, you can replace the War Axe with the Blade of the Seven Seas, which will provide additional damage but reduce survivability. In theory, you could buy another offensive item instead of the Golden Meteor (the Devastating Machine Gun or the Great Dragon’s Spear), but in most cases, you won’t be able to use these items in the late game—Hirara simply won’t be able to survive.
On the other hand, to increase defense, you can use the Kirasu of Brute Force and the Queen’s Wings. This gear will reduce the damage you take, but Hirara will survive and gain lifesteal—it’s worth remembering that a dead character deals no damage, no matter how much physical attack they have.

Best Allies and Counterpicks
To use her abilities effectively, Hirara needs an ally with crowd control: remember, the main damage from her skills is dealt with a slight delay and only to the area in front of her. The best options to support Scarlet Doom are Franco and Kaya, as well as Angela and other similar heroes.
Hirare herself is worth picking if you see immobile enemies attacking from the backline: this assassin can quickly close in on heroes like Ixia and Fash.
The best counter to Hirara is other active assassin heroes against whom it’s difficult to land combos (for example, Cyber). In the current meta, you can simply pick a meta jungler: Hayabusa, Fanny, and others farm faster, and Scarlet Death will have a very hard time. Even Tigryl will work.
- Best allies: Franco, Angela, Kaya;
- Hirara’s counterpicks: Cyber, Hayabusa, Fanny, Tigryl;
- Hirara is a counterpick for: Ixia, Fash, Hanabi.
Gameplay: How to Play
The character’s design emphasizes versatility—Hirara can choose between fast farming in the jungle and ganking lanes from the very start. However, at launch, the character has damage issues early on: Scarlet Doom clears the jungle very slowly and lags behind other similar heroes.
Almost the only alternative is an ultra-aggressive playstyle and early ganks on mid or the side lanes. This requires a suitable pick: passive and squishy enemy heroes, as well as active allies with crowd control and damage. We recommend focusing slightly on leveling up Meisen-e and taking as many proactive actions as possible to maintain the necessary pace for a smooth transition into the late game.
After the laning phase, Hiraru will follow standard assassin gameplay: farming expensive items, controlling buffs, and actively engaging in team fights. In team fights, the hero should look for enemies who can be quickly killed or “taken out” of the battle, as well as try to secure solo kills when pushing lanes.
Hirara is a challenging but interesting character who requires specific conditions and a propensity for aggression to play effectively. Unfortunately, in other situations, the hero still falls short of meta assassins, and you can only use him if you’re willing to use your skills to bridge the gap in peak potential.
