Selena is an assassin and mage in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang who can switch between two forms and use completely different skill sets. She stuns enemies from a long distance, sets traps, and deals massive magic damage in close combat. In this guide, we’ll break down Selena’s abilities, the best builds and emblems, and explain how to play her effectively and who to watch out for.

Selena is an Assassin/Mage hero who can play mid lane or act as a roamer. Her main objective is to control enemy movements using traps, stun dangerous targets, and quickly eliminate them after shifting forms. She excels particularly in early-game skirmishes and surprise ambushes.
The character can be purchased in the in-game store for 32,000 Battle Points or 599 Diamonds. Sometimes Selena can also be tried for free during temporary hero rotations or obtained as part of special events if she is included in the list of rewards.
Selena’s main strength lies in her combination of high mobility, sustained crowd control, and powerful magical damage. Thanks to her two forms, she can attack from a long range and then quickly close in to finish off her opponent. Her traps also help track enemy movements and detect dangerous ambushes in advance.
However, Selena is considered one of the most challenging characters in MLBB. Her effectiveness depends heavily on the accuracy of her “Arrow of the Abyss,” proper form switching, and timely skill usage. In addition, she has low health, so a failed attempt to close in on an enemy often results in her death.

Selena’s main feature is her two forms, each with a different set of abilities. In her elven form, she sets traps, stuns enemies, and applies Abyss marks; after transforming, she becomes a mobile assassin capable of quickly eliminating opponents in close combat.
In her Elven form, Selena’s abilities apply Abyss Marks to enemies, which last for eight seconds and stack up to two charges. After transforming into her Abyss form, her abilities consume these marks and deal additional magic damage. Therefore, before closing in on an enemy, it’s important to first mark them with a trap or an arrow.
Selena sets a hidden trap that attaches to an approaching enemy, slows them down, and explodes after a short delay, dealing magic damage. Up to three traps can be on the map at the same time. They are best placed in bushes and near important locations for reconnaissance. If an “Abyss Arrow” flies through a trap, it will pick it up and carry it to the target it hits.
Selena fires a magical arrow that deals damage and stuns the first enemy hit. The farther the arrow travels, the stronger the impact and the longer the stun—up to 2.5 seconds. This is your primary tool for initiating an attack: try to shoot from behind bushes or at an unexpected angle to make it harder for the enemy to dodge.
Selena transforms into her Abyss form, briefly increasing her movement speed and resetting the cooldowns on her melee abilities. It’s best to use the ultimate after a successful stun, when the enemy already has marks on them. This way, she can quickly close the distance and deal maximum damage.
Selena enhances her next basic attack, allowing her to dash toward the enemy and deal additional magic damage. At the same time, she gains a shield that absorbs a portion of the damage. Use this ability after a stun and be sure to follow up with the empowered attack before continuing the combo.
Selena dashes in the selected direction, dealing magic damage to enemies in her path. If the ability triggers the Abyss Mark, its cooldown is instantly reset. This allows you to perform multiple dashes in a row, chase down enemies, or quickly escape a dangerous area.
Selena returns to her elven form, briefly gains a speed boost, and resets the cooldowns of her ranged abilities. This ability allows her to follow up with a new arrow, set a trap, or retreat after a successful cast.
At level 1, learn “Abyss Trap” to control pathways and place markers in advance. At level 2, unlock “Arrow of the Abyss” to stun enemies. Then prioritize the first skill, level up the second next, and upgrade the ultimate whenever possible.
Selena’s Main Combo Sequences:
After finishing your attack, return to your elven form using “Gift of the Moon Goddess” to continue fighting from a safe distance.

Selene needs magic power, additional penetration, and skill cooldown reduction. That said, the build depends on your chosen playstyle: you can focus on constant map control and frequent ability usage, or concentrate on quickly eliminating single targets.
This option is suitable for mid-lane play and active map movement. It allows you to set traps more often, fire arrows, and assist your team in prolonged battles.
If necessary, you can purchase the “Enchanted Talisman” before the “Burning Staff,” especially if you lack enough mana to use your abilities consistently. This build is geared more toward consistent control and prolonged battles than toward dealing maximum damage in a single combo.
This option is better suited for aggressive play against enemy mages, marksmen, and assassins. It boosts magic penetration, basic attacks after using abilities, and damage against marked targets.
This second build shines when you land “Arrow of the Abyss” precisely and use your empowered basic attack correctly. However, it provides virtually no additional defense, so it’s especially important to time your engagements carefully and keep an escape route open.

The Mage Emblem works well for Selena, as it increases magic power, provides additional magic penetration, and reduces ability cooldowns. Thanks to these stats, she can use her abilities more frequently and deal more damage during combo attacks.
For standard gameplay, you can choose the following talents:
Instead of “Inspiration,” you can use “Rift,” which increases adaptive penetration. This option is better suited for aggressive play, especially if your main goal is to quickly eliminate enemy marksmen and mages.
If Selena is playing as a roamer, it’s more useful to focus on cooldown reduction and movement speed. When playing mid lane with a focus on kills, the additional penetration will help you execute early attacks more effectively.
The optimal combat spell for Selena is “Flash.” It allows you to instantly move a short distance, avoid dangerous crowd control, or unexpectedly close in on a stunned opponent.
Despite the dashes provided by Abyss, “Flash” remains a useful safety net. It’s especially helpful in situations where “Garrotte” is on cooldown or you need to immediately escape a dangerous area.

Selena is most effective when she controls the map with traps and launches surprise attacks on opponents from safe positions. Her main objective is to detect dangerous movements in advance, land “Arrow of the Abyss” hits, and quickly eliminate marked targets after switching forms.
Early in the game, learn “Abyss Trap” and place it in bushes or passageways near the river to track the enemy jungler’s movements. On the mid lane, use your abilities to clear minions and try to reach level two as quickly as possible, which unlocks the ability to stun opponents. After clearing a wave, assist allies on neighboring lanes and participate in battles for the Turtle. If Selena is playing as a roamer, move alongside the jungler more often and create opportunities for early kills.
By mid-game, Selena begins dealing high magic damage thanks to her built items. Use traps to check bushes, control the paths to key objectives, and try to attack from unexpected angles. After successfully landing “Arrow of the Abyss,” switch to Abyss Form and finish off the enemy with a skill combo. However, don’t rush into the center of the enemy team just for a single kill: if other enemies are nearby, it’s better to maintain a safe distance.
Late in the game, it’s especially important to position yourself correctly and not waste your core abilities. Set traps near the Lord and in narrow passages to detect approaching enemies in advance. Try to stun enemy marksmen, mages, or assassins, but don’t engage in close combat unless you’re confident you can secure the kill. At this stage, Selena is quite vulnerable, so a single failed attack could leave your team without crucial crowd control during a decisive battle.
Selene struggles against heroes who can avoid stuns, remove crowd control, or prevent her from using her dashes. Khufra, Kagura, Wanwan, and Diggy are particularly dangerous. Khufra hinders Selena’s mobility in her Abyss form, Kagura can remove negative effects, and Wanwan is capable of dodging targeted attacks. Diggy, in turn, protects allies from crowd control, reducing the effectiveness of “Arrow of the Abyss.” Against such opponents, it’s important to choose your target carefully and avoid dangerous engagements without team support.
Selena’s best allies are considered to be Tigril, Khufra, and Barats. They can keep enemies in place and create favorable conditions for a precise arrow strike. Tigril and Khufra help initiate team fights, while Barats can immobilize a dangerous target for an extended period. Selena also pairs well with heroes who can quickly finish off stunned enemies, such as Hayabusa and Leomord.
