When I played on the Philippine server, people would constantly recognize me in ranked matches. Whenever players saw me, they’d type in the chat, “Ocean Week, welcome to the Philippines,” and it was really funny. I always found people in the rankings who knew me. They’d write, “Yo, DJY, are you ready to lose? Try to put up a good fight,” but I’d beat them anyway.

It really doesn’t matter whether a country is rich or poor. Money doesn’t determine a player’s strength. In my opinion, the server has the biggest influence. When you play ranked matches, you constantly face opponents stronger than yourself, which helps you improve and get better. And if you keep getting stronger, clubs might start scouting you. The more players like that there are, the better the server becomes.

The Philippines’ strength lies in the fact that this region has won the World Championship series five times. Players on this server feel literally invincible. That’s why they exude confidence when facing Malaysians or Indonesians. On a subconscious level, Filipinos play better because of their mindset—they see themselves as champions, while Malaysian teams are considered “Tier 2,” leading them to believe the next match will be an easy one.
