Team Liquid PH’s performance at the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 and the start of his commentary—highlights from the podcast with Burrito

Commentator Aaron Paul “Burrito” Gaddy appeared on a new episode of the 8G podcast series on the Wolf Casts YouTube channel. Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights in our article.

Life Before Esports and the Origin of the Nickname “Burrito”

During his college years, Gaddi played volleyball. The future caster never got to compete in official leagues, but joining the team earned the Filipino a 50% discount on tuition, which allowed him to save a significant amount of money. Before entering the industry, Aaron held many different jobs: he worked in a restaurant and at supermarkets, was a noodle sales representative, and worked at a call center, where he eventually rose to the quality control department.

He chose the nickname “Burrito” because of his chubby newborn son. A family friend who came to visit was charmed by the baby’s appearance and compared the swaddled infant to a burrito, which the father really liked. Initially, the commentator wanted to call himself “Elburito,” but after thinking it over for a while, he abandoned the idea, deciding that such a name wasn’t quite appropriate.

On organizing his own tournaments and the start of his official career as a caster

At the start of his career, Burrito organized amateur Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournaments himself. With just one monitor, he managed to run the competition, provide commentary, and show viewers highlights—which he edited manually—all at the same time. Enthusiastic spectators compared these events to MPL championships. The modest Gaddi leagues, which lasted several seasons, also featured players who later became well-known esports athletes: Oheb, Demonkite, EMANN, and Domeng.

Burrito’s first official tournament was the M4 World Championship. The caster found out he had been chosen to cover the global competition just two weeks before the event began. Since Aaron had previously been just an ordinary viewer of the MPL league and didn’t know the details and nuances of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang pro scene, he had to rush to study the history of all previous world championships, from M1 to M3, which took a tremendous amount of effort.

On the Philippines’ performance at the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 and Teddyqt’s support

Team Liquid PH, which had dominated its region, performed extremely poorly at the international MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 tournament, finishing in 13th–16th place at the event. Burrito reflected on the performance of the title-winning team and other Filipino squads and suggested that the reason for the failure was the teams’ inability to adapt to the new meta. The esports players completely shifted the burden of preparation onto their coaches and mindlessly followed even erroneous instructions. At the same time, the commentator spoke positively about Team Liquid PH’s crushing defeat at MSC 2026, as faith in the strength of the Philippine region had previously been excessive. Now, teams from many countries have realized their competitiveness and are striving to put up a fight at championships.

Gaddi strongly condemned the wave of hate directed by fans at Team Liquid’s gold laner, Dave “Teddyqt” Viyagna, which arose due to Team Liquid PH’s performance at the international tournament in Paris. Burrito pointed out that Teddyqt is a complete newcomer to the MPL league and is playing at such a high level for the first time. According to the caster, the young esports player may have fallen victim to coaching mistakes and intense nerves. Teddyqt shouldn’t be compared to experienced gold laners like Kelra just because he won MPL Philippines Season 17.
