In an interview at ESL Pro League Season 24, Aurora Gaming coach Ashley “ash” Batty analyzed the match against Team Vitality, summed up the tournament for his team, and shared the team’s goals.
We got off to a slow start on Anubis, but then managed to find our rhythm. I’m very proud of the team for their performance on the first map. Then, on Cache, we had plenty of opportunities to take the lead. We understood what was happening, but we couldn’t win the rounds. Matches against Vitality are always tough, as a lack of confidence really takes its toll. The start of Mirage was rough—by the time we got into a rhythm, it was already too late. I think our team was close to a 2-0 victory, but this time we weren’t able to finish the job.
I think we can take away a lot of positives. Before this tournament, we had the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026, which also went very well. Now the question is whether we can deliver the same results at upcoming events. Overall, I’m satisfied with our progress. There are still some issues that need to be addressed, but we’re currently moving in the right direction.
We don’t have any expectations right now. We’re simply striving for consistency—we need to play with the same mindset against all teams, regardless of their level. Wins at major tournaments would also be a nice bonus. In the coming months, we’ll gradually improve our system. It’s very difficult to win tournaments right away, given the form of other top teams, such as Vitality.
Aurora Gaming finished ESL Pro League Season 24 in 3rd place. Yesterday, the team lost to Team Vitality, and today they defeated Team Spirit. The next tournament for ash’s squad is the Thunderpick World Championship 2026.
