AwaykeN set a record for the most kills in a single map at a LAN event in CS2
Slaven “AwaykeN” Lyubenov, the CS2 sniper for the Norwegian club INFURITY Gaming, managed to rack up 62 kills in a single map, setting a new record for the most kills at a LAN tournament in Counter-Strike 2.
The feat took place during INFURITY Gaming’s match against IC Academy in the group stage of the Urban Riga Open Season 7 on the Dust2 map. The Bulgarian sniper racked up 62 kills, but this wasn’t enough to secure a victory for his team, which ultimately lost in overtime, 29–31.
AwaykeN’s performance surpassed the previous LAN tournament record, which had been held by Alexander “Altekz” Givskov and Nils “k1to” Grune, who each scored 60 kills in a head-to-head match nearly a year ago. In addition, this performance ranks among the top three highest-scoring performances in the history of the discipline, including online stages, tying with the records set by Alejandro “mopoz” Fernández and Rodrigo “biguzera” Bittencourt.
The Urban Riga Open Season 7 is taking place from September 29 to 30. The tournament will be held entirely in-person in Riga at the AFK e-Sporta klubs venue. Eight teams will compete for a total prize pool of $5,500.
