On the night of September 30, Valve released an update for Deadlock that refreshed the map and neutral zones, added six new heroes and the Broker, and revamped the in-game HUD, voice lines, markers, and user settings. See our article for the full list of changes in Russian.
List of Changes
New York Map
- The map has received a redesigned layout.
- Four new districts have been added: Theater, Chinatown, Ghost District, and Plaza.
- New locations have been added: Flooded Square and Chinatown Bell Tower.
- Sturdy crates containing bonus souls have been added; a powerful strike is required to open them.
- Containers with power-ups have been added.
- Healing snacks have been added—they’re hidden throughout the map and allow observant players to quickly restore their health.
- Added ventilation shafts that let you hide behind a steam curtain with your teammates to move unnoticed through the city streets. Provides invisibility and a small health recovery.
New Neutral Creatures
- Added Stage Hands, Crabbage Pots, Festival Spirit, Shrooms, and Underhands—each creature is found only in its own city district.
Broker
- You can trade your high-level items for their tainted versions.
- Although the exact time the Broker arrives varies, the first batch of items arrives in about 30 minutes.
- Additional tainted items can be obtained on average every 15 minutes after the first batch arrives.
- In each match, all tainted items are assigned random negative attributes from a predetermined set. The severity of negative and positive attributes varies slightly, but they are the same for all players in the match.
Heroes
- Six new heroes have been added: Nurse Harrow, Rat King, Violet, Baba, Solomon, and Deadman Danny. Players can influence the order in which heroes appear by voting in the prematch lobby.
- Starting October 2, two heroes will be released each week—on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Voting
- You’ll start earning priority tokens for playing as the new heroes.
- You’ll earn twice as many votes for your first win of the day.
Health Bar
- It’s now easier to see your teammates’ nicknames in the heat of battle.
- An ultimate indicator has been added.
- As you deal damage, you’ll see the enemy’s health bar decrease in real time.
- Stamina tracking and critical health information have been added.
- A total damage display feature has been added, which can be enabled in the settings.
HUD
- Added ally indicators.
- Improved visibility of stats.
- Added dynamic stat changes during battle.
- Changes to your stats are now displayed while shopping.
- Added display of ability charges and duration.
- Improved aiming mode.
- The event feed has been updated—you can now track important events during a match and the reasons for your deaths.
- Players now see the full reward for a target, as well as their personal share of the kill.
Store
- The kill feed, chat, and stats are now displayed while shopping.
- The Store uses player data to recommend the most popular items.
- Added the ability to filter stats to see only the ones you need.
- Search, focus, and scrolling have been improved.
- New settings and general navigation between tabs using keys 1–6 have been added.
Notifications and Communication
- The tag system has been redesigned.
- Interactive markers on the minimap have been enlarged.
- Added a circular wheel that lets you learn more about the heroes in your match.
- Detailed dynamic ability notifications have been added to track important cooldowns.
- Added a text input indicator.
- There are now many new objectives you can mark.
- Over 15,000 new notifications have been added.
- You can now mark items in the shop to let your teammates know you plan to buy them.
- Added the ability to share important information about enemies via notifications.
- If you mark a specific hero in a group of enemies on the minimap, the exact number of targets will be displayed.
Hero Voice Lines
- New hero lines have been added.
- The number of dialogues between new and existing characters has been increased to 1,500.
- Over 10,000 lines of dialogue not associated with tags have been added.
- A dialogue player has been added—now you can listen to lines from your favorite heroes.
Miscellaneous
- Added a praise counter.
- Fighter behavior, animations, and actions have been improved.
- Added names for lanes and areas on the minimap.
- Updated the rendering and visual effects of the smoke screens across the entire map.
- The parry cooldown is now displayed next to the crosshair.
- The mid-boss respawn timer is now displayed on the top bar.
- Custom lobbies can now accommodate up to 8 spectators.
- You can now zoom out to get a better view of your hero.
- When you receive a permanent buff, its type is displayed above your hero.
Visual Effects, Sound, and Control Settings
- Added the ability to change the color of enemy UI.
- A subtitle display feature has been added.
- Double-tapping the “Forward” key now allows you to continue moving without additional commands.
- An auto-jump feature has been added.
- An auto-fire feature has been added—your weapon will fire continuously without holding down the “Fire” key.
- Added the ability to reduce camera shake caused by hits, explosions, and other effects.
Advanced Tools
- Added the ability to record and replay bot actions.
- Added a detailed analysis of your actions against bots.
- A graph showing your movement speed in real time has been added.
- Added an indicator showing your damage per second and total damage.
- Added numerous settings to customize your hero’s status.
- Added the ability to enable and disable standard spawns during testing.
- Added a tool that lets you apply permanent buffs.
- Added the ability to lock the camera and focus it on a single hero.
- Added a feature to hide the interface.
- Added display of item types in the shop.
- Added detailed bot configuration options.
- Added a feature to force-spawn various targets, destructible objects, and enemies.
- Added the ability to kill and heal targets with the cursor.
- Added hotkeys for quickly switching actions.
- Added a feature to hide your character on the map.
- Added tooltips for all settings in the “Sandbox” for clearer results.
- The layout of the testing tools has been adjusted for convenience.
- Added a free purchase mode.
- The system shows where your weapon’s damage begins to decrease and where the stats reach their minimum.
Behavior and Complaints
- Report toxic or rule-breaking behavior during and after a match.
- You will now receive notifications when action is taken against a player you have reported.
- If a player you reported violates voice chat rules, they will be muted for the remainder of the match and receive a 30-day communication ban.
New User Settings
- Added a full display of your custom key bindings.
- Added the ability to copy crosshair and keybind settings as code to share them with other players.
- Added the ability to switch heroes while spectating or watching a replay.
- Added the ability to adjust camera dimness in the game settings.
- Added the ability to set custom values for health bars—you can now customize how health numbers, damage dealt, and other parameters are displayed.
- Improved crosshair preview.
- Certain settings now visually indicate when they have been changed from their default values.
- Speakers, headsets, and microphones that have been recently connected or disconnected are now immediately displayed in the settings menu.
- You can now configure many settings separately for each hero.
- Added automatic detection of users’ keyboard layouts.
- Users playing in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean can now use the IME system for text input.
- Added a feature to change the cursor size.
- Added support for assigning mouse wheel functions to keys that were previously reserved only for mouse buttons.
- Added a hero selector to the navigation panel.
- The menu now remembers your location between game sessions.
- Added a preview feature for image settings.
- Added the ability to save settings to the cloud.
- Added the ability to reset specific and all settings.
- Color selection and customization have been improved.

- The engine code has been updated to the latest version of Source 2.

- Added options to remap the “Avoid Hero” command for players using a mouse without a middle button.

- Successfully parrying targets no longer resets the cooldown.
- The time it takes to receive the bonus from “Sinner’s Sacrifice” now varies.

- Walkers no longer continue to fire fireballs after death.
- Fixed a bug where Yamato’s flying strike would not create a path to solid targets.

- Bots now spawn facing the player.
- Graves can now destroy Venator’s traps with his weapon.
- The Strider’s attack and strike range indicator now appears as the player approaches.
- Fixed a bug where heroes or targets were not displayed on the mini-map for the Hidden King and Archmage when spectating a match.
- In “Sandbox” and “New York Exploration,” the first spawns on crates and neutral objectives occur after 5 seconds instead of 30.
- Various new objectives have been added to “Sandbox.”
- Added a new camera angle when observing the Guardian.
- Added support for Japanese text wrapping rules.
- Added localized hero logos for Korean.
- Added an option to embed the HUD for 21:9 aspect ratio gameplay.
- New settings now display an indicator until the notification about the new setting is closed.
- Added an icon to the sliders in the settings menu to indicate the default values for each option.

The previous Deadlock update was released on September 16—at that time, Valve reduced comeback rewards and slowdowns, increased item rewards, and made changes to reload mechanics and in-game balance.
