ESL has changed the rules for deducting monetary fines from teams in its CS2 tournaments

Tournament operator ESL has updated the regulations for the ESL Pro Tour CS2 series. The organizers have tightened their financial policy regarding rule violators.
The changes affect the procedure for deducting fines for organizational violations, such as missing media appearances or delaying matches. The administration now has the right to deduct clubs’ debts from a wider range of sources.
The official text of the updated rule:
Fines may be deducted from any prize money won by an organization at ESL tournaments, not just from the winnings at the specific event where the rule violation occurred. If the prize pool for the event is less than the amount of the fine, the remainder will be deducted from the club’s future payments.
This stricter financial measure is part of a major rule reform ahead of the start of the second season of 2026. Earlier, as part of the same update, ESL extended the duration of VAC bans to five years and banned discrimination on TeamSpeak.
