Aurora Gaming captain Damian “kyxsan” Stoilkovski, in an interview at the Thunderpick World Championship 2026, assessed the team’s progress, discussed communication issues, and shared his expectations for the match against FURIA.
I think we’ve improved significantly since our first match. On the first day, we just couldn’t get into the game—nothing was going right. We had communication issues, and individually, we weren’t playing our best. We just didn’t perform up to our usual standard, but we were able to turn things around by yesterday and the day before. I hope we’ll continue in the same vein today.
It seems to me that some players on the team might not be used to someone speaking to them more directly. But I think we’re discussing this and trying to explain to everyone that we’re not here to argue or blame anyone when things go wrong. It’s simply about discussing problems, fixing them, and getting better.
At every tournament, we have a map we don’t play at all, and a map we play, say, ten times. It seems to me that things are a little unusual at this tournament. Cache and Inferno are two maps we don’t usually play very often. But yesterday we played on both of them. Today we’ll be playing on Inferno again.
I think everyone on this roster wants to prove something. Everyone is very motivated. I don’t think anyone is satisfied with how the last few months or years have gone. That’s why we want to win, and today’s match is the first step. We’ll focus on today’s game, and then we’ll see how things turn out tomorrow.
Everything is going very well. We haven’t won a single trophy yet, but I see progress, and that’s what matters most. And I just feel that if we keep doing what we’re doing now, sooner or later we’ll start winning trophies. One way or another, they’ll definitely come.
Right now, Aurora Gaming is playing in the semifinals of the 2026 Thunderpick World Championship against FURIA. The winner of the match will advance to the tournament final, which will take place tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.
