MIBR captain Linus “LNZ” Holteng spoke in an interview at StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 about the victory over NRG, preparations for the match against FURIA, and Martin “tomaszin” Korna’s adjustment to the team.
It seems to me that they were just repeating everything we’ve seen before, so it was pretty easy to prepare for.
We knew full well that we needed to step up if we wanted to win today. But I think tomaszin’s adaptation process is still in its early stages, and there will be slip-ups. The key is to be mentally prepared for this, to understand that matches like this can happen. Of course, what happened yesterday wasn’t good enough, but the win is what matters most. In a way, it’s even good to have matches like this where you get punished a little, even if the team has a coach on the roster.
My approach is to make his adaptation as comfortable as possible. But at the same time, we still need him to integrate into our system, into how we want him to play. So there’s a lot that’s new for him. It’s tough to learn an entirely new system in two weeks, step up to a higher level, and play against stronger opponents. And on top of that, to travel the way we are right now. Yeah, and I’ve already talked about this in another interview: when you have to learn the spreads, the defaults, and all your roles, you lose sight of those basic things—like when you just need to make a play with a teammate. And maybe for everyone else these are basic things, but when you have to think about ten other things at the same time, it’s pretty tough. That’s why I think that once he figures all this out and starts executing it perfectly, he’ll be very dangerous.
We’ve already prepared for FURIA. We played against them two days ago, so we don’t really need to do any extra prep. We just need to check if, perhaps, FURIA has come up with something new that we aren’t ready for. So this prep will be very quick, I think. We just need to maybe tweak our game plans a bit and see how we can approach this differently.
Earlier, MIBR defeated NRG in the quarterfinals of the lower bracket at StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 with a 2-0 map score. Today, Linus “LNZ” Holten’s MIBR team is set to face FURIA in the lower bracket semifinals. The losing team will be eliminated from the tournament.
