Team Spirit captain Boris “magixx” Vorobyov, in an interview at the 2026 Esports World Cup for CS2, commented on the victory over BIG, discussed the comeback on Dust2, and talked about the team’s preparations for the tournament’s playoffs.
It was a tough game, as you could see. We didn’t get onto the server at the start of Cache. We had a great start on Dust2, but at some point we lost a few rounds. Then they kind of started snowballing against us, and when things get tough, I get even tougher. So we managed to come back on Dust2, and it was a really great game on our part. And on Mirage, it was pretty much the same story. We started off well, but then we lost a few rounds that were pretty strange, and we didn’t handle it right. That kept affecting us in the following rounds. That’s why we lost so many rounds on that side. But on the CT side, we played absolutely great.
A lot of our gameplay was based on communication and what we expected. And personally, I wasn’t exactly taking risks, but I correctly read their moves several times in a row—maybe five times in a row. I was the third man on A, either to cover the “short” or to help out on B. And on the force, when we left three of them with pistols, I felt they’d go that way. So I took a risk, and it paid off.
It’s great. Definitely better than losing. And we have a few days ahead of us to figure out how we’re going to play the next game. Because there’s a break between the playoffs and the group stage. And that might be enough time to change a lot of things—a lot of what’s happening in the game and beyond. So I just hope we can use that time to get better—much better.
Earlier, Team Spirit defeated BIG 2-1 in the group stage of the 2026 Esports World Cup for Counter-Strike 2. As a result, Boris “magixx” Vorobyov’s team advanced to the championship’s playoffs, which begin on August 19.
