Analyst Jacob “Pimp” Winneke and journalist Duncan “Thorin” Shields discussed BetBoom Team’s latest results and Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov’s performance as team captain in the latest episode of the Counter-Points podcast, and also assessed the progress of Kirill “Magnojez” Rodnov.
Pimp: BetBoom Team is performing excellently at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026. They’re playing very confident Counter-Strike. I’d like to point out that this is a Tier 1 tournament featuring all the world’s top teams. The fact that BetBoom finished the group stage with a 3-0 record is impressive. I really feel that this team is progressing rapidly. At IEM Atlanta 2026 and the Major in Cologne, they posted excellent results while playing with stand-ins. Just recently, at the Thunderpick World Championship 2026, we saw for the first time what BetBoom Team is capable of with its full roster. Its players not only possess excellent skill but also work together very seamlessly.
Pimp: It’s clear that Boombl4 is in complete control of what’s happening on the server. Every player has a specific role that they stick to. No one strays from their assigned tasks. If there’s one interesting team out there that could go far at the upcoming Major as a dark horse, it’s BetBoom. <...> Boombl4 has managed to build a system that works and establish smooth coordination among all the players. He definitely deserves praise.
Thorin: I agree. The community forgot about Boombl4 way too quickly. Even if you’re skeptical about his results as a captain, he definitely did everything right at NAVI—under his leadership, the team won many Tier 1 tournaments. I think the events in his personal life in 2022 really took a toll on him. Nevertheless, Boombl4 managed to bounce back from that situation and returned to the elite level as part of Cloud 9. He did an excellent job leading the roster alongside electroNic and Perfecto and even helped them reach the top 8 at the Major.
Boombl4 not only resolved his personal issues but also got himself back on track. I think everyone has noticed that he’s managed to lose weight. He’s also become a stronger caller. Thanks in part to the captain’s vision of the game, BetBoom has been putting up such strong results against top teams.
Pimp: Magnojez is gradually turning into a top player. If BetBoom puts up a solid performance at the Major, he’ll definitely be a contender for the title of Best Rookie of 2026. Right now, Magnojez is a true star on his team. He complements Boombl4’s playstyle perfectly and has a direct impact on the team’s results.
Thorin: Magnojez is a prime example of a player who has progressed step by step over the course of several years. He competed in LAN tournaments as far back as 2024, but at that time he was still gaining experience on the pro scene. Now he consistently achieves high rankings at major events, regardless of the team’s results.
Earlier, Duncan “Thorin” Shields and Alex “Mauisnake” Ellenberg discussed the development and economic aspects of major LAN tournaments organized by bookmakers in a new episode of the Snake & Banter podcast.
