According to September’s results, Dota 2’s average concurrent players dropped by nearly 46,000, representing a 7.4% decrease from the previous figure of 617,000. These statistics are tracked by Steam Charts.
On the evening of September 6, concurrent players reached 919,000—the peak for the month—though this was 62,000 fewer than in August. Thus, the positive trend seen during the summer, which had shown growth every month, came to an end. In mid-September, Patch 7.41f was released, nerfing popular heroes; however, no significant changes in online player numbers were recorded as a result.
September saw the first major championship of the new season—PGL Wallachia Season 9—but some players were unable to participate due to visa issues or personal reasons, and several clubs, notably Team Spirit, PARIVISION, Team Liquid, and BetBoom Team, skipped the tournament.
