I’ve been thinking about this too, and I have something to say: VALVE gave Dota 2 a new lease on life, created esports for us, and supports it—but you can never please everyone. I realized this myself as soon as I started working in the media, and the most upsetting thing is that there are only a handful of people who appreciate it, while thousands criticize it.
Personally, I’m grateful to Valve—because if it weren’t for them, Vlados might not have even had a chance to shine on the pro scene or in ProDota, or at least to give it a shot. Even now, after I’ve stopped being a pro, I’ve found my place as an analyst, commentator, showman, clown, “beer-saur,” and so on.
Earlier, former esports player and community caster Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov spoke during a live stream on Twitch about the late game in Dota 2, the in-game event “Dark Carnival,” and ranked matches.
