GH shared his thoughts on playing for the national team at the Esports Nations Cup 2026 in Dota 2

Maron “GH” Merhey, a player for the Lebanese national team and Nigma Galaxy, spoke about his team and shared his plans for the future in an interview following their victory over the Kyrgyzstan squad in the Esports Nations Cup 2026 qualifiers.
On participating in the 2026 Esports Nations Cup
Unfortunately, we didn’t play that many games, which is a bit disappointing, but… To be honest, I know many of these players from matchmaking, and they’re really good. So I was just happy to be on the same team as my fellow countrymen: it’s been so long since I last played with a full five-man roster from Lebanon, and with a coach to boot. It was very exciting for me.
About the Lebanese team
We just grabbed people off the street, kidnapped them, fed them chicken breast—and they played for us in the qualifiers. As far as I understand, ruustle is a regular player ranked 200th, a friend of No!ob and Omar—they knew him before I did. And Freaky, to be honest, is a newcomer to me, but I’m really impressed with his gameplay. I think he has a promising future if he works hard—that’s for sure. So I’m absolutely thrilled about this team and the prospect of making it to the main stage.
On my contribution to other players’ gameplay
Of course, I try to help, but how effective I am depends on their willingness to accept it. If someone asks for my opinion, I give it, but if they start resisting what I say—the conversation won’t go smoothly anymore.
On plans for the future
Looking ahead to the coming months—I’ll probably fly to Paris soon, then, hopefully, play at The International in Shanghai, and after that, I’m sure we’ll have a little time for the Lebanese team to practice and maybe come up with some strategies. Then, I hope, we’ll put on a good show on the big stage. I don’t know yet where the tournament will be held, but I can’t wait to finally play, travel, and really bond with my fellow countrymen so that we can go together and prove ourselves.
The Lebanese national team defeated the Kyrgyzstan team 2–0 in the upper bracket final of the Esports Nations Cup 2026 qualifiers for the Middle East and Central Asia and secured a spot at the world championship in Riyadh-Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
