Former pro player Aiden “Insania” Sarkoi spoke negatively about tournament casters on the “Last Free Nation DotA” podcast, saying they don’t root for a specific team the way commentators used to.
Have you ever heard a caster say even one positive thing about Team Liquid in the last four years? That’s why I love the fans and hate the casters! “Let’s go Liquid”—they’re the ones who came up with that chant. I think it’s wrong to blame people who came to a tournament to support their favorite team and chant… If you call them cringey, then you’re mega-cringey!
Commentators aren’t fans anymore. They were loyal to a team back in 2013, but not now. For the past three years, tournament commentators haven’t rooted for any team. And I’m not just talking about Team Liquid.
I’m not saying you have to abandon neutrality; I’m not saying you have to hate Team Liquid. But you’ll do it anyway. Because you guys are haters. That’s my take on it.
Insania represented Team Liquid from 2019 to 2025. With him on the roster, the team took first place at The International 2024.
Earlier, esports event host Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner spoke about the cost of hosting Dota 2 tournaments, noting the importance of support from viewers.
