Team Spirit’s Ilya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk expressed his positive opinion of Deadlock. The player answered the question during a podcast on the organization’s YouTube channel.
I really like Deadlock. I’m a Deadlock ambassador in the Russian scene. I really like the game—it has a lot of cool mechanics and is very interesting.
It’s unclear how Valve plans to develop it. You can tell they’re working hard on it, but there’s a concern that it might never leave beta. It’s been in beta for too long, I’d say. It’s been in beta for two or three years now, and it feels like it’s about time to release it. But the game is really great.
The only thing that worries me is that the barrier to entry is very high. Because there’s aim, movement, builds, leveling up, heroes, and spellcasting. You have to put in a lot of effort to play at even a decent level.
[Korb3n: Will you go into esports with Deadlock?] Yes.
Earlier today, October 17, Deadlock set a new online record, surpassing the 300,000-player mark. Before the release of the major “City That Never Sleeps” update, the game’s online player count had never exceeded 125,000.
