This isn’t good news, but there’s one “BUT.”

In Dota, the difference between a good online tournament and a bad LAN tournament has practically disappeared. Often, even a good online tournament is better. Take the DreamLeague, for example.

Many LAN tournaments in Dota these days aren’t anything special; they don’t offer a significant quality difference from online tournaments.

And yet, there is a demand for high-quality tournaments, as the internet has shown. A full arena in China for the finals—even without any Chinese teams.

As a result, for you and me, there’s almost no difference between LAN and online in this case. There are S-class tournaments. BLAST Dota wasn’t one of them—it was A-class, and it remains so.
