Pure on mistakes made by strong teams: “Sometimes you just want to do something to end the game as quickly as possible.”

Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko, a player for 1w Team, spoke in an interview at the Esports World Cup 2026 about mistakes made by top teams, commented on the second map against Virtus.pro, and assessed his team’s performance in the tournament.
On Mistakes Made by Top Teams
[There were a lot of “blunders” from other teams in their matches, but you guys are disciplined—why is that?] Compared to everyone else… I don’t think you can say that after the first map against Virtus.pro, where I definitely ran too far. Could you call that an attempt to show off? I don’t know. Sometimes you just want to do something to end the game faster, and you think it’ll work, but usually it backfires.
About the second map against Virtus.pro
The second game was super easy; we had three top-tier heroes on the networth chart starting at the 10-minute mark. You could say the same about the first map, but I think we had a much bigger advantage in the second one. And we had the right heroes to end the game quickly. That’s why everything went much more smoothly.
On Group D
[Who has the best chance of advancing from this group alongside you?] Definitely Team Yandex. They’ve won a ton of tournaments this season. I haven’t watched their games, but the team has clearly been doing well. I’m expecting Yandex in the upper bracket; to be honest, I have absolutely no idea how this format works. I just found out that OG is in my group—that’s cool; I didn’t even know that.
1w Team defeated Virtus.pro 2-0 and finished the second day of the Esports World Cup 2026 group stage with four points. The team’s next match will take place today at 7:30 p.m. Moscow time against LGD Gaming.
