Professional player Jonas “SabeRLight-” Wołek spoke emotionally in a video on his YouTube channel about the current phase of his career, amid a lack of invitations from teams.
Am I ending my career or looking for opportunities? I’m looking—I’m looking for them damn hard. For some reason, after TI, I received zero invitations. Zero!
I know some players who are really good at Dota and are tired of proving it—Crystallis, for one. I’ve always thought he’s a really good player, but he’s been kicked out time and time again, and I don’t think he deserved it—even though I’ve never played on the same team as him. And it’s really hard to prove you’re good enough when people don’t appreciate it. It’s tough.
I’ve been lucky: this is the first time in my entire career that something like this has happened. Before, everything was pretty easy: I was picked up by the legendary roster with Arteezy, Cr1t-, and Fly, and I joined Liquid right after winning TI. So I can’t say they were biased against me. But this year, all of a sudden, everyone started treating me like trash. No, that’s not going to fly. I’ve never been more motivated than I am right now. <...>
I’m playing five damn tournaments and qualifiers. You know why? To prove those assholes wrong. It pisses me off so much when they think they’re better than me. “Oh, SabeRLight—yeah, that guy’s already blown his chance. I don’t want him on my team.” Screw you all! I’m going to destroy you! You have no idea how badly I’m going to crush you at the next tournament! It makes my blood boil.
First of all, I’m going to take first place on the ladder, just to rub it in their faces. Solely for that reason. “Oh, first place? He’s already past his prime. He must’ve just boosted his rating on Brewmaster.” Wrong! That’s my arc of revenge. And then, whoever picks me for their team—the first to realize that SabeRLight hasn’t “blown up” at all and never has, but is actually pretty good—will get the best laner available on the market, while everyone else will get what’s coming to them!
Currently, Volok ranks 8th on the European MMR leaderboard. The highest rating right now belongs to PARIVISION support Edgar “9Clas” Naltakyan.
Last season, SabeRLight played for Virtus.pro, but after The International 2026—which the team failed to qualify for—the club disbanded the roster. Among the player’s major career achievements are first-place finishes at PGL Wallachia 3 and 4 with Team Liquid, as well as his participation in TI 2021.
Previously, Jonash qualified for PARI UNIVERSE by FISSURE as part of LEGION. The tournament will take place from October 22 to November 1, with the organizers offering a $250,000 prize pool. Participants in the event include Team Spirit, PARIVISION, BetBoom Team, and Team Yandex.
