In October, Dota 2 had an average of 648,000 concurrent players—77,000 more than the previous month. The statistics are provided by Steam Charts.
The average concurrent users figure rose by 13% to a 10-year high. At the same time, the peak concurrent player count nearly reached 1.1 million, exceeding the previous peak by 177,000 and setting a record since 2022. Thus, the decline in player numbers observed in September did not continue in October.
The developers did not release any major updates last month. In the first half of October, the Trove of Terror treasure chest was released, featuring Immortal sets and Arcana sets, and the BLAST SLAM VIII playoffs and most of the PARI UNIVERSE by FISSURE matches took place.
On October 27, a significant drop in online players was recorded, and the next day, the peak figure was 300,000 lower. Insider and data miner Maxim “Gabe Follower” Poletaev speculated that this might have been related to the developers’ efforts to combat bots used to promote custom maps.
