The popularity of Tidehunter and Drow Ranger in Dota 2 has more than doubled following the release of the new Arcana items.
The pick rate for Tidehunter and Drow Ranger in Dota 2 has more than doubled following the release of the Trove of Terror. This is evidenced by statistics on the Dotabuff website.
Tidehunter’s pick rate rose from 6.66% to 17.97%—an increase of approximately 2.7 times. Drow Ranger’s pick rate increased from 9.66% to 20.82%—a 2.16-fold increase.

Players have also started picking other heroes who received new skill sets more frequently. The most notable changes in pick rates:
- Nyx Assassin — from 7% to 12.13%;
- Undying — from 12.08% to 16.86%;
- Tiny — from 4.31% to 8.71%;
- Ancient Apparition — from 6.73% to 10.61%;
- Terrorblade — from 4.46% to 8.19%;
- Marci — from 3.95% to 7.58%;
- Death Prophet — from 3.75% to 6.74%;
- Shadow Shaman — from 14.92% to 17.49%.
After the update was released, a bug was discovered in Dota 2 involving Tidehunter’s Arcana, which allowed players to obtain information about nearby enemies, as well as a bug with a Terrorblade item that caused the number of Reflection’s Shade gems to double.
